I quit baseball and joined the theater... so he thought I was trying to make fun of the baseball team...

We were doing a skit about baseball, so... It probably looked like that to him.

He's really not a bad guy, he just had a lot of feelings about it.

Hmm. Maybe. [ Danny is maybe a little bit biased against jerk jocks with a lot of bravado. ]

Did he at least stop being a jerk to you after that?

Yeah... There was a lot of stuff I couldn't say back then.

But we've both accepted it.

Right! He's still in baseball and I'm in theater and it's all good.

Oh good. And that other guy, he didn't actually break anyone's bones or anything?

Azami hasn't broken anybody's bones. I mean, not as long as I've known him.

The first time I met him he beat up some guys who were trying to beat him up. So he probably could break bones if he wanted to?

Yeah. Azami's so strong.

He's actually two years younger than me. Kinda hard to believe, right?

That guy is fourteen?

Ugh, no fair. How's anyone supposed to take people like us seriously when there's kids like that running around?

[He laughs a little.]

Sometimes middle schoolers are just really tall.

Yeah, well, they shouldn't be. It's not very fair to the rest of us.

What you do is way more important than how tall you are.

I'm not even that tall. And besides, I think what you can do is really amazing! I can't land a whole space shuttle.

[ blinks. he...really thought kumon was talking about the powers there. ]

It's, uh. I mean, it's not hard to learn--I just spent a lot of time playing aviation sims and stuff. I guess they really are accurate.

[Powers are cool, but things you're passionate about are cooler.]

Still! You put all that time in to learn!
